Visiting Sonova on the way to Geneva
Goedemorgen Zonnestraaltjes!
This morning we left the city of Zurich for the sweet place of Murten. Here we visited Sonova, a company specialized in the creating of hearing aids and of systems to aid in hearing. First 2 employees from R&D gave us a presentation of how they build their systems, focusing on their transmitters and receivers. Moreover, we got a tour of their workspace and testing facilities. Their testing facilities were especially interesting, as their devices operate at the busy 2.4 GHz band testing frequently in varying conditions is critical. Additionally, they told us about their roger system which has its own communication system based on classical Bluetooth. It was very interesting to hear about their design choices and to discuss how and why they made certain choices.
Afterwards, we enjoyed lunch together with them. There was time for an informal chat and to drink a good cup of coffee. After the lunch we received another presentation, which was a less technical presentation given by the head of sales. Here we could ask questions about the marketing and sales of the technology, although not all were answered.
After the visit, a bus ride from Murten to Geneva awaited us. Fortunately, the ride through the Swiss landscape was not unpleasant, with beautiful views of rising on both sides of the road. In Geneva, we will enjoy a (hopefully) delicious cheese-fondue. If this is not possible, we can always make cheesy jokes to entertain ourselves.
Roger, Roger!
